Too often communications campaigns are cooked up at headquarters, then handed off to countries with a simple enough sounding request: ‘translate this’.

But it’s not that simple, and usually impossible. My forthcoming book will explore these issues and propose solutions.

Localizing Employee Communications: A Handbook (publication date Q4 2017) will look at typical headquarters practices that our colleagues abroad wish we would stop doing, and how we can get more out of our thoroughly thought through, highly strategic, global, (but let’s face it) English-language deliverables.

It will wrap up with recommendations on how to co-create and localize content by working with local resources.
